Lakehead University's Knowledge Commons provides a home for both published and unpublished works (eg. PowerPoint for a conference presentation, text for a lecture). Although publishers will provide long-term access to published journal articles, the Library has never been able to afford access to all journals, and currently most of the access to journal materials is through licences. If we cease paying for a current licence, some licences provide no retrospective access and we will lose access to your articles. The repository provides a secure and permanent location for your work. The URL will not change and you can link to it from any web page. The Library will look after back-ups and ongoing maintenance. Items in the repository are also findable through Google, Google Scholar, Bing and other search engines.
